What is a Messianic Congregation?
It is a group of Jewish and non-Jewish believers in Yeshua, the Messiah, that gather to worship God, do His will and reach out to the Jewish community while maintaining our identity, culture and heritage.
Do I have to be Jewish to attend Light of Israel?
No. Light of Israel is a Messianic Jewish Fellowship that has both Jewish and non-Jewish people who attend our services each week. While we do reach out to the Jewish community through culturally relevant music, worship and terminology, we have found that both Jewish and non-Jewish people feel comfortable attending our services.
Which holidays do you celebrate?
We celebrate all of the God-given, Biblical holidays as found in Leviticus 23 as well as the historical Jewish holidays that remember God’s deliverance of our people such as Hanukkah and Purim. We also remember and teach on the birth of our Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) and His resurrection which is fulfilled in the Jewish holiday of First Fruits.
Do I have to know Hebrew to attend your services?
No. Our services are primarily in English but have certain elements in the Hebrew language such as prayers, music and liturgy. The Hebrew is always followed with the English translation so that all may have complete understanding of what is being said.
Will I feel comfortable bringing my Jewish family, neighbors and friends?
Yes. Light of Israel offers a great opportunity to bring your family, friends and neighbors to hear the message of Yeshua the Messiah. This will be done in a Jewish context with Jewish sensitivities.
How should I dress for your services?
We desire for everyone to come and be comfortable in worship. We have a variety of different people, so you will feel comfortable whether you are dressed up or more casual.
